Dear Community,

I am honored and privileged to be Chair of Chickenshed NYC. Now in its fifth year, Chickenshed NYC is changing lives just as its namesake in the UK has been doing for almost 50 years.

The Chickenshed mission, wherever it is, is to stage entertaining, thoughtful theatre by including and celebrating all who want to take part. In the process, it challenges preconceptions, encourages creativity, and inspires excellence.

Chickenshed is a theatrical experience but it is so much more. Chickenshed is a community and a family. Our new home at the 14th Street Y on Manhattan's lower east side has given us space to welcome parents for coffee, an office for management to collaborate in, and a community to be part of. We are grateful for that partnership.

Chickenshed has been part of my life since my children joined in London in 1995. It changed our family's life and still continues to encourage us to work toward a better, more inclusive world.

On behalf of the Board, I encourage you to explore this website, read about our work, and watch the videos. We are believers in the vision and are confident that NYC is a better place for having us here. At Chickenshed we care about one another and make each other better. It is a contagious philosophy, one we very much want to share.
